パロ コルタドは、フィノやアモンティリャードを目指していたシェリーが製造過程で産膜酵母である「フロール」が機能せず、オロロソとして酸化をはじめ、自然偶発的にできた希少なタイプのシェリーです。最高蒸留・製造責任者のビル・ラムズデン博士は、入手困難なこの樽を調達し、滑らかで柔らかい8年熟成のウイスキーを詰め込みました。その樽の奥深くで4年間熟成させた結果、ビル博士が夢見た豊かなエレガンスが生まれました。ダークプラムの深みとミルクチョコレート、ブラジルナッツ、甘いスパイスの香りが絡み合い、独特の複雑さとグレンモーレンジィのエレガントで繊細なウイスキーの世界と素晴らしくマッチします。

I have long dreamed of bringing the nutty sweetness of Palo Cortado sherry to Glenmorangie’s signature finesse. After four years of finishing, we have created a unique and elegant whisky, and we are delighted to have secured a few precious casks to finish our smooth whisky for the first time. The Glenmorangie Barrel Select Palo Cortado has a wonderfully rich aroma of toffee, mulled wine, and Brazil nuts. The sweet spice and dark plum flavors are perfectly balanced with rye bread and salted nuts. This limited release Barrel Select Series will be enjoyed by many whiskey lovers.”

Palo Cortado is a rare type of sherry that was intended to be a Fino or Amontillado, but the production process did not work with the senescent yeast, Flor, and it began oxidizing as Oloroso, a rare type of sherry that was created by natural accident. Dr. Bill Ramsden, Chief Distiller and Production Manager, procured these hard-to-find casks and filled them with smooth, soft, 8-year-old whiskey. Four years of aging in the depths of those casks has resulted in the rich elegance that Dr. Bill dreamed of. The depth of dark plum intertwines with notes of milk chocolate, Brazil nuts, and sweet spices, creating a unique complexity and a wonderful match to the elegant and delicate world of Glenmorangie whisky.
